How to Play

Connecting to a MUD is a relatively simple task although it can seem complex to first-time users. The key is to find a method that you like and is readily accessible to your computer usage habits. Once connected to the MUD simply follow the in-game prompts to create your character.  If you would like to read about the character creation process, visit the forums here.

How To Connect From Firefox:

  1. Download the PCManfx.xpi telnet emulator plugin here.
  2. To install the plugin in Firefox: Open Firefox -> File -> Open File -> browse to the pcmanfx.xpi file and open it.
  3. After the plugin is installed click here to connect and play.

How To Connect From Your Computer: MUD Client

  1. Download a MUD client: MUSHclient, ZMUD, CMUD, TinTin++, PuTTY.
  2. Install the client.
  3. Connect to Raze the Dead at host "avpmud.com" and port "5000".
  4. MUD clients offer powerful and robust features but have steep learning curves.

How To Connect From Your Computer: Windows XP/Vista/7 Telnet

  1. Most WinXP users will already have the Telnet client enabled, so skip to step 3. If not continue to step 2.
  2. Enable the Windows Telnet client: Start -> Control Panel -> Programs/Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features On or Off -> Enable "Telnet Client" check box -> OK.
  3. Open a Telnet session: Start -> Run -> run the command "cmd" -> type "telnet avpmud.com:5000"

How To Connect From Your Computer: MacOS X Telnet

  1. Go here for simple instructions on how to open a Telnet session in Mac OS X.
  2. type "telnet avpmud.com:5000"

How To Connect From Your Smartphone: Windows Mobile, Android, Iphone

  1. Download a telnet client app for your respective phone.
  2. Windows Mobile: Pocket PuTTY
  3. Android: zaTelnet Light. Also check Android Market.
  4. iPhone: Check Apple Market for the Pocket MUD app which is pre-loaded with our connection info.
  5. Connect to Raze the Dead at host "avpmud.com" and port "5000".
